Headed home for the Holidays? Ship your luggage ahead of time. No waiting, no lines, no stress. The next time you fly, don’t take your bags to the airport. Bring them to us. We can ship your luggage directly to your destination. Skip the hassle of dragging luggage and holiday packages at the airport. Plus, we provide reliable UPS package tracking. See us before your next trip, and we’ll take the “lug” out of luggage.
We’re gearing up for the Toys for Tots Literacy Program donation drive in December. We encourage you to donate at least $1 as part of the “Buck a Book” initiative. When you donate, we put your name(s) on one of our Teddy Bear cards and hang it on our wall of fame. This money goes towards purchasing books through our partners the USMC and Scholastic Publishing Company. Scholastic has agreed to sell children’s books for $1 each and then they’re donated to children in our local communities.

Many people find this a good time to clear unwanted items from their homes in preparation for the New Year. Consider donating these items to the Second Edition Resale Shop.
Second Edition is the major ongoing fundraiser for the Cedar Mill Community Library Association, a tax-exempt corporation dedicated to providing free public library services. Sales of donated art, jewelry, antiques, and gently-used or like-new furniture, household items, and clothing netted over $143,000 for the library in 2007. The funds raised are used for books and media, storytimes, helpful librarians to answer your questions, computer classes for seniors and much more!
Donation receipts are available for tax purposes. Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent provided by the law.
Volunteers play a vital role at Second Edition by accepting, sorting, appraising, and selling donated merchandise. The shop runs on a skeleton crew on the weekends so they are unable to accept donations due to a lack of storage space. Therefore, please bring your donations on weekdays during open business hours. Also, please do not leave items outside, as these can become damp, damaged, or stolen.
Second Edition is powered by more than 80 volunteers, and is always looking for more, especially during the holidays. These volunteers range from teenagers to octogenarians. They are dedicated to making the shop a success and are passionate about supporting the library.
Please call 503-644-6395 or visit www.cedarmill.org/library for Second Edition donation guidelines, volunteer positions available, and information on sales and events. And if you have not been in the shop, stop by today and see the attractive displays, and the quality merchandise available. Thank you for supporting your community library!
Second Edition Resale is located at 12505 NW Cornell Rd. (on the hill above and behind Walgreens. Enter through the driveway on Saltzman. The shop is at the east end of the library.) Open Monday 12-6, Tuesday 10-7:30; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10-6; Saturday 10-4:30, Sunday 12-4:30.
Our December group show with featured artist Leila Ball opens December 9th through January 3rd, 2009. Leila Ball received her Bachelor of Art degree from Western Washington University. She has worked as a successful studio artist in media that includes painting, fused glass, polymer clay, fiber sculpture and enameling.
Our holiday bazaar continues through Dec. 24th. Find original artwork, jewelry and other treasures for your loved ones and support local artists.
